Movement Therapy

Experience points to a two-way influence of body and mind, and each side is entitled to get the proper attention for having an effect on the physical and mental balance.

Movement therapy is another significant tool designed to promote a wide range of therapeutic goals such as raising awareness of the body and its capabilities, diagnosing mental processes, reducing blocks, enhancing social abilities and self-image.

Movement therapy is suitable for treating children, particularly those with special needs whose lingual ability is usually hindered. Movement therapy significantly helps to develop communication skills and introduces modes of emotional expression along with social progression.

The treatments at Shalva are held in small groups that include children with identical or similar capacity levels to enable progress without any pressure or feelings of inferiority. During the sessions, kids express various emotions through movement: love, happiness, anger, fear. The staff works toward elevating all movements in order to tend to physical deprivations and advance physical abilities as much as possible: jumping, pacing, developing  balance, muscle strengthening, running, hopping.
