Recently, the Ofek group at Shalva was thrilled to have a visit by representatives of the Israel Police Force. Following individual group activities with the police officers, the officers met with the entire program together. Sappers showed the children the remote control robot that analyzes and neutralizes suspicious items or bombs. Forensics officers explained to the children about fingerprints, and showed the children how each of their fingerprints are unique.  The children were thrilled to have this up-close experience with their heroes.

The Ofek group at Shalva is a group within Shalva serving children with emotional difficulties, which impact on their cognitive development. While often some of these children are reluctant to participate in activities, in this case their excitement and curiosity took over, and almost all the children participated fully and with enthusiasm.

More experiential programs of this type are being planned.
