Volunteers are seldom paid; not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless." (Author Unknown) Those who give freely of themselves without measuring hours of the complexity of the task are an indispensable component of Shalva programming. Recently, Danielle Torrent, a college graduate from Florida, came to Shalva for the volunteer-segment of her five month internship with World Union of Jewish Students (WUJS). "I always wanted to work with challenged children and am thinking of doing this in the future. Everything here just 'feels right' even though I am working with people who are very different from those in the world I grew up in. I love it here."
