Shalva and Hadassah Medical Center again co-sponsored the Second Annual Gerry Schwartz and Heather Reisman International Congress on Children with Chronic Disorders & Disabilities. Meeting at Jerusalem's Regency Hotel on Mount Scopus on December 3 and 4, the Congress drew over 300 field professionals from Israel and overseas.
Participants included pediatricians, general practitioner‘s, nurses, rehabilitative specialists, counselors, social workers and students who all attended to learn more about the special care and special needs of children with chronic disorders and disabilities and their families. Topics included multidisciplinary care for children with disabilities, transitioning to adulthood, the challenge of financing care for children with chronic diseases, practical management of children with specific types of chronic disease, nutritional management in pediatric chronic disease and caring for the child with chronic disease in the community.
