Girls from SHALVA to Participate in the City of Jerusalem's "Women's Street Goal" Event

About 100 girls will participate in the 2012 Jerusalem Street Goal Tournament, with 20 SHALVA girls taking part!

The event will take place over the course of three days from May 21- 23, 2012.

Over 100 girls, aged 12-16 from East and West Jerusalem, will make up the 30 teams in the tournament who will play in the first ever women's competition on the turf of Teddy Stadium. The Municipal Sports Authority of the Jerusalem Municipality will host the 3 on 3 tournament for the 5th annual year at Teddy Stadium. Street Goal will be divided into 6 age groups with players ranging from 12- 40.

This year, Street Goal is comprised of 150 teams, and for the 3 days of the tournament Teddy will turn into a mini soccer center with 7 small fields and one main field for competitions between the participants: penalty kicks, ball tosses, golden leg and more.

The event will take place on Monday, May 21, at 6:30 pm, in conjunction with the players union. The festive game will feature former Israeli soccer stars who will face off against top names in the world of entertainment. This year the Jerusalem Municipality has decided to dedicate the game to the children of  SHALVA.

On Tuesday, May 22, a veteran derby will be held between former stars of Beitar Jerusalem and Hapoel Jerusalem.

Uri Menachem, Director of the City's Sports Department: "The Jerusalem Street Goal Tournament is a unique sporting event which allows hundreds of participants to enjoy a once in a lifetime experience on the field of Teddy Stadium. The event strengthens the awareness of competitive soccer and is a great experience for both participants and spectators. The Street Goal Tournament has quickly become a tradition in Jerusalem and we are happy to have it every year in light of its popularity. This year we are happy to launch Women'sStreet Goal in light of the high demand and I have no doubt that this it will soon become a blessed tradition."
