Shalva’s sports programs have added a new dimension.  In addition to judo, basketball, swimming, and soccer, Shalva has opened the very first professional table tennis training group for individuals with disabilities in Israel.  For now, the participants in this group are members of our Rising in Rank program, young men with disabilities doing voluntary army service in conjunction with Shalva.

Ping pong is not just a fun game. Professional level ping pong is particularly beneficial to people with special needs, as it requires speed, quick reaction times, hand-eye coordination, balance, coordination, concentration and more.  These skills are important not only in table tennis, but in daily life as well.

The group is being trained by Tal Wiener, head of the Israel Table Tennis Association, who has donated his services to Shalva.
