Our dental health clinic is bringing healthy smiles to Shalva’s children. Studies suggest that children with disabilities are often one of the most underserved populations for dental care. Individuals with disabilities have more oral disease, dental caries, missing teeth, and difficulty in obtaining dental care than the general population. To counteract this trend, Shalva has opened the Oral Health and Wellness Center, staffed by both a dentist and a dental hygienist, whose goal is to provide our children and their families with tools for proper dental hygiene. Through individualized oral hygiene intervention in the Henry Schein Cares Dental Clinic at Shalva, and through classroom and group guidance, OHEV seeks to set our children on a path toward better oral health.
