Team Shalva in the NY Marathon: 260 Runners, One Purpose

A year of training, pushing limits, and showing up—no matter the challenge—led to this moment. Five intense days in New York, miles away from home, with a team that carried Israel with every step.

The Shalva-Saucony team was more than just a running group. It was a reflection of resilience and unity. Reservists, soldiers, and evacuees from the north and south stood alongside wounded warriors and bereaved families. Individuals with disabilities ran next to doctors, students, and community leaders. Each runner had a reason. Each step mattered.

On their jerseys was Rif Harush z”l, who fell in battle in Gaza this past April. His father, Avi Harush, ran alongside us—for Rif, for the values he stood for, and for the choice to keep going.

This wasn’t just about crossing a finish line. They ran for those who can’t. They ran for the children of Shalva. They ran for something bigger than themselves.

They broke barriers, inspired us all, and brought immense pride to our nation!
